Brighten up for Cafod 27.10.2023
Food bank collection – many thanks for your support to help people in need in our local community.
CAFOD’s Family Fast Day this Harvest
Dear parent,
This Harvest we are supporting CAFOD and joining other schools around the country to help support our global neighbours.
To raise money, we’re going to ‘Brighten up for CAFOD’ by wearing clothes of as many different colours and patterns and having a colourful cake sale on Friday 27th October.
We will also be having a Harvest Foodbank collection to help those in need in our local community. Any tins/ packets of food and toiletries will help.
How our fundraising will help
CAFOD is the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, working together with people living in poverty in some of the most hard-to-reach places in the world.
Our fundraising will support people like ten-year-old Ayra. She lives in a small village in an area of Pakistan that was devastated by terrible floods last summer. The floods damaged Ayra’s home so much that the family had to leave.
Ayra and her siblings began to suffer from malnutrition and skin infections. Ayra’s mum, Sultana, brought them to one of the mobile clinics run by Community World Service Asia, an organisation that CAFOD supports in Pakistan. At the clinic, they received the treatment and medicines they needed at no cost to the family.
Our fundraising will give more families like Sultana and Ayra’s the urgent help they need in emergencies, as well as supporting them afterwards as they rebuild and make their communities better prepared for future emergencies.
We have chosen to support CAFOD as a way for our pupils to put their faith into action. By raising money together, we will be supporting our brothers and sisters around the world and living out our school mission.
We really appreciate your support and hope that everyone has fun helping us raise money for CAFOD.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs May
