Pupil Development Grant Strategy Statement

SCHOOL ESSENTIALS GRANT

The School Essentials Grant is available to children and young people eligible
for free school meals (eFSM), Looked After Children (LAC), and those who are
classed as No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) in year groups Reception to
Year 11.
Funding of £125 is available for each eligible learner with the exception of
those in Year 7 who will be entitled to £200 (to reflect the increased cost of
starting secondary school).
The Purpose of the Scheme is to provide grant assistance to families on lower
incomes for the purchase of:

  • School uniform including coats and shoes;
  • School sports kit including footwear;
  • IT Equipment: laptop and tablets ONLY (School Essentials should only be
    used in limited situations where a school is unable to loan equipment to
    the family)
  • Uniform for enrichment activities, including but not limited to: scouts;
    guides; cadets; martial arts; sports; performing arts, or dance;
  • Equipment – e.g. school bags and stationery;
  • Specialist equipment where new curriculum activities begin such as
    design and technology; and,
  • Equipment for out-of-school hours’ trips such as outdoor learning – e.g.
    waterproofs.

    Mae’r Grant Hanfodion Ysgol ar gael i blant a phobl ifanc sy’n gymwys i gael

    i gyllid cyhoeddus o’r flwyddyn dderbyn i Flwyddyn 11.
    Mae cyllid o £125 ar gael i bob dysgwr cymwys ac eithrio dysgwyr Blwyddyn 7,
    a fydd â hawl i £200 (i adlewyrchu cost uwch dechrau yn yr ysgol uwchradd).
    Diben y Cynllun yw darparu cymorth grant i deuluoedd ar incwm is i brynu:
  • Gwisg ysgol, gan gynnwys cotiau ac esgidiau;
  • Cit chwaraeon ysgol, gan gynnwys esgidiau chwaraeon;
  • Cyfarpar TG: gliniadur a thabledi YN UNIG (Dylid defnyddio’r Grant
    Hanfodion Ysgol o dan amgylchiadau cyfyngedig yn unig, lle nad yw ysgol
    yn gallu benthyca offer i’r teulu)
  • Gwisg grwpiau cyfoethogi, gan gynnwys, ymhlith eraill, sgowtiaid; geids;
    cadetiaid; crefft ymladd; chwaraeon; celfyddydau perfformio neu
    ddawnsio;
  • Cyfarpar – ee bagiau ysgol a deunydd ysgrifennu;
  • Cyfarpar arbenigol ar gyfer gweithgareddau’r cwricwlwm newydd, ee
    dylunio a thechnoleg;
  • Cyfarpar ar gyfer teithiau y tu allan i oriau ysgol/dysgu yn yr awyr agored
    – ee dillad sy’n dal dŵr.
